F0002 fault shows up on all the drives, running or not

Edhouston Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	MicroMaster 440 VFD, we have six440'sof which one is run occasionaly. TheF0002 fault shows upon all the drives, running or not. I have been toldthat this is a tranisent votage problem and the solution is to add traisent voltage suppressor?

Are all the drives the same? Do you have any other input side components (i.e. filters)? Have you confirmed that the supply is bad (Scope/trace/power analysis)? Regards, Graeme

juliankov Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	This problem appears to be your MM400 series drives rectifying spikes being 'seen' on your AC supply from your motor control centre, causing the VSD to trip on overvoltage. This occurs with the MM400 series if the VSD is running or not. This problem can occur when having these VSDs connected to the same supply line as other drives, particularly older drives and DC drives. Older DC drives are known to cause AC line spikes/noise, it is possible of couse that you may have other equipment connected to the same AC line causing this problem. Solutions to this problem are varied and can be for instance: connect braking resistors to prevent / reduce overvoltage trips when your AC drives are running, and open the ac supply line to the VSDs by de-energising the line contactor to the VSD when the VSD is not in use. If you do this you will always get undervoltage faults so you will need to adjust a parameter to allow the VSD to self reset after a 'brown out'. This should prevent the issue from coming back. Another alternative of course, is to investigate why this issue is occuring to begin with, finding the root cause, and consider elimination (very difficult), or adding input filters to those devices. You could also connect your AC drives to a different 'clean' supply which is not connected to the equipment that is causing your troubles. In my situation I had this very problem occur when I replaced 2x 6SE32 series drives with 2 x 6SE64 series drives (mm400s) and all of a sudden i was having the same problem as you describe, the older 6SE32 drives did not have this issue. The two new 6SE64 series drives had integrated input filters. The only option in my case was to open the line contactors when the drives were not required to run , and close the contactor when it was required to run. I also added braking resistors to cover the situation when they were running. I found the 'spikes' that i found on the AC line were being caused by 6 different ABB DC Tyrak drives that were also connected to the same motor control center, and only occured when the larger of the sixwere running, and was at its worst in regenerative braking mode. Another possible alternative if space permits is to install isolation transformers for your VSDs. Another thing to check would be the earthing arrangement of your distribution system and if your drives filter capacitors should be referenced to earth or not (check user manual).
