Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, the last post is wrong. The user Program and the DB is stored in an internal EEPROM in the PLC. This will never be lost even if you don't power the PLC for a long time. If you have values (Timers, counters, .....) and this memory areas are enabled as retentive (Systemblock) then this values are powered from a super-cap (default setting). This super cap is build in in the PLC and can power the values for max. 100 hours. If this 100 hours is not enough then you can use a battery module to extend this time to max. 200 days. If you do not want to use the battery then you can copy values from RAM to internal EEPROM. You can use SMB31 and SMW32 to do this. Max. 4 Byte can be stored at one operation. If you need to store more then 4 Bytes in the internal EEPROM you can then use this operation more times or you can use a library you can get for free here: www.s7-200.net What happens if you do not use the battery with your values: If the power is disconnected from the PLC for a long time then: 1. SM0.2 will be true for one cycle (lost of retentive values) 2. The PLC will then copy the values from the DB (V-Memory) 3. Without additional program values for counters, timers, ... will be 0 To be sure to do notloose values (in any case) you can use the V-Memory and use the operation to store values to the internal EEPROM.
