shortly we received a message from customer that parameters changed suddenly. It seems they were reset to initial values - some 0, some other values.

Is there the possibility to loose retain information e.g. by power loss or lightning or ...? Or may the only reason be a download of the blocks and therewith overwriting the current values?

oops, CPU 1515-2 PN / FW 2.1. Programmed with TIA 15 Upd 4.

No problem with the second PLC in this project (CPU 1511-1 PN / FW 2.5).

Firmware difference, maybe you should update the firmware on the 1515 cpu?

you think that could be the reason? - There was no issue since commissioning one year ago.

Do you require HMIs, DCS/SCADA systems to have user/password or security certificate before modifying (write access) is allowed?

Perhaps they are installing other equipment, and the default power up for an HMI on the LAN starts writing to the wrong PLC until fully commissioned ON SITE!

My memory card issues have 100% been the fault of the …. user …. errr, me.

If a memory card was not fully inserted, it should not have caused a memory card inserted hardware event to happen, so popping back out should not be the issue.

There is a vibration specification for the s7-1500.  There are also heat related specifications.  If the control enclosure is not physically attached to mechanical equipment and not picking up floor-induced vibrations, that should not be a problem except in the most severe causes.

Perhaps someone dropped a pallet of something heavy nearby right about the same time as the "reset" happened?  Perhaps a fork lift, umm, bumped into the control enclosure.

@0_Einstein:  You have had some issues with memory cards in the past. Would a temporary disconnect of the memory card cause this type of occurrence? I am thinking of heat generation or vibration or even ...user....

in this case the PLC also perform a "Reset" and reset some DB andf Retain values

I have not personally seen this as far as my memory serves me...

How can I and a PLC programmer create such a thing with an s7-1500?  Use an older firmware version and older version of TIA Portal (one without updates applied)??
