PCS7 Install on MS Virtual PC

Tokolosh Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I have been attempting to install PCS7 Version 7on a Microsoft Virtual PC for Demonstration purposes. Please Note my experience with MS Virt PC is very limited. The Virtual Machine is MS Windows XP Professionalwhich did have SP3 on it. Due to the following problems I have since removed the SP3, Rebooted and installed SP2 from the Tools Disc with PCS7. I have also installed the Message Queing in Windows and also the Hotfix for Windows XP. I have then installed successfully the SQL for WCC also with PCS7 CD's. My problem is after doing all the above then installing the PCS7 from the CD is, that after selecting the packages I wish to install etc. the installation halts and requests me to install the Hotfix for "Windows Server 2003 SP2" (KB929046). WHY?? This request happens both before I had installed the Hotfix and now with the hotfix. I have even tried installing the Hotfix for Server 2003 from the CD but as expected it halts saying this is the wrong Windows for this hotfix. I've tried going into the registry and copying then changing the number to KB929046 and then installing it. Which it installs no problem but then retrying the PCS7 install it halts requesting I install the "Windows Server 2003 SP2" (KB929046). Can anyone help me with this problem? Not sure if it means going into some file somewhere and telling PCS7 install not to look for the Windows Server Hotfix or somehow tricking it that the Hotfix is installed. I have copied the whole PCS7 Install CD onto the Virtual PC and running the install from there but that has not helped.

Tokolosh Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I Tried doing everything in that Fix ie Re-install SP2 Windows XP, Also again tried to install SP2 Windows Server 2003 and when that didnt work tried searching the Hotfix KB929046 on the CD and installing that directly but again no go. The problem as I see it is that the PCS7 Installation is expecting, for some strange reason, to install itself on a "Windows Server 2003" OS instead of what is actually on the system "Windows XP Pro". For this reason its requiring to see the KB929046 Hotfix. I cannot install either the "Windows Server 2003" SP2 or the Hot Fix KB929046 as when I try it Halts with the error "This is the wrong Version of Software for this installation". Is there a file in the system that the PCS7 installation is looking at and is incorrectly suggesting the OS is Windows Server 2003 or what?
