For C Axis of Spindle on CNC Turning Lathe which External Encoder is preferable ??

One with 1 Vpp Singals  or Other with TTL / HTL Signals

We are having Siemens 828D Basic T Control System on our CNC Turning Lathe.

Please check below points.

1. Possibility of interfacing external encoder.

2. How much accuracy is desired on C axis? Check type of motor installed? Spindle gear box ratio? Drive mechanisam to be check.

3. What type of braking system is available for spindle?

4. For better speed & position accuracy 1 Vpp sinusoidal waveform encoder is preferable. But again it depends on points mentioed in 2 & 3.

Is External Incremental Angle Encoder of Magnetic Ring type is preferable for the above mentioned motor specifications having output signal of 1 Vpp.

What should be the preferable resolution of the External Incremental Magnetic Encoder for the or the C Axis turn mill applications on CNC Lathe in general ??

Please check the points mentioned at sr. no 2 in my earlier post. 

How external incremental ring type angle encoder will be installed on main spindle?

To my best knowledge, for such type of encoder it needs original machine & retrofitt is not advisable.
