Moreover, how can we check DBU is functioning properly. We cannot depend on LED diagnosis every time. Regards, Devesh

I have some cases recently for failure of breaking Units.. Devesh Dear Vithani Sir, Let me try to explain the failuers of DBU. Assuming the DBU designe, duty cycle rating & selectionis correct. Alsoit mostly depends upon the application.PrincipallyDBU fails because of following reasons. These problemsI have faced & upon appling the remedies, I have overcome the failuers of DBUs problemsby my own practicle exprieneces If because of load interia, if more current than the designe or rated is getting ingected in DBR or if the de-acceration time is too quick or if in inching application or if in inch fwd-rev application, DBU is used then in those cases DRU may fail earlier than its expected service life. Life is shorter than Normal is expected but once it failed within 8-10 hours of installation. brought new one, failed again in few weeks. Same, for other crane also it failed. Any other reason which may result in this failure?? Devesh

Is it the problem from the date of installation & commissioning? Are 2 nos of DBRs connected in parallel or single DBR is connected? Have you checked the power wire connections of chopper,drive & DBR, means is it fully tightened or any loose connection at terminal or lug? Is the Chopper fault relayinterfaced in main drive or not?Have you, any time measured the maximum current passing thru DBR? if yes how much is it? Can you attached the drive interfacing drawing, motor details, chopper details & DBR specifications? Regards, DEEP.

PA-28 Posts: 12 Rating: (1)	Hello Vithani. I have thesimilar problems with crane applicationas yours. The crane(and 2 identical) have been running for 7-8 years without this kind of fault. Braking unit 6ES7031-6EB87-2AD0 shutdown during normal crane operation, all LED`s dark. If power off for an hour or so, it works fine again for a while. Braking unit was repaced with the new 6ES7031-6EB87-2AD1. (Some modifications with the X38-24V terminals). Braking unit works fine for 3-4 weeks, the we got the same fault: shutdown, all LED`s dark, and if power off for an hour, it is up and running again. Seems to me that something is beeing overheated and must be cooled down for proper function again. Did you find a solution for your fault? Regards

PA-28 Posts: 12 Rating: (1)	Shutdown of braking unit was caused by drop in DC-bus voltage. Drops in DC-voltage was caused by occasionally contact fault at an external 24V DCrelay for disable/enable Rectifier.(X101:6,..9) Also, the rectifier was disabled for short periods, no faultmessages, rectifier display shows: "- -"! Relay replaced, braking unit OK! Regards Tore
