Cross reference not showing content

Wil Posts: 23 Rating: (1)	Hello, When I try to generate a cross reference of a project it is not showing any content in the cross reference screen. Pressing 'Options' - 'Reference data' - 'Display' it starts with a'Wait screen', so it looks like it is generating data. When that is done, it is showing only an empty screen, even it I change the filter settings. It occurred suddenly without a reason, but what concerns me more, It is not only that one project, it are all the projects on my computer. I am sure that it has worked in the past. Does anyone have a solution for this... Kind regards Wil

Kind regards Wil Hi, I can be sure about the cause of your problem, however I have some sugestions: 1 - Save As your projectwith option "With Reorganization" 2 - In the Reference Data, do a comand to delete and after that to generate. 3 - Take a look if there is any filter selected on the diagnose display. (frequently, the problem stay there).

But try this: open the Reference data program from here: c:\program files\siemens\step 7\S7XUT\s7xutapx.exe Then browse to the project you want to view the reference data from..... This works for me...... Opening reference data from simatic manager still doesn't work..... Is your problem solved already???

sfa Posts: 70 Rating: (3)	Hi, I've expirienced the same problem. I think it has nothing to do with the project but rather how step7 works on your machine. After reading the posts here I tried the s7xutapx.exe directly from the filemanager and browsed to my project, updated the reference and is now able to see the cross reference again I use Step7 Professional 5.4 SR2 on a Compaq nc8430 - have even tried a total re-install of windows and Step7 but with the same result. I believe I also had the problem with Step7 5.4 SR1. Colleagues with the same configuration do not expirience this problem, also the help desk at Siemens Denmark were unable to give directions to a remedy of the problem.

Somewhere there must be a missing link between opening de cross-reference through the context menu when right-clicking on 'Blocks' and the project that is opened at that time. Because, sometimes when I have more than one project opened and when i ask for a cross-reference in project 'A', I get the values of cross-reference of project 'B' shown in the tables, but the titlebar indicates project 'A'. I have Step 7 V5.4 SP2. I can't tell for sure if the problem arose after installing SP2. I'm sure it worked fine in V5.4 SP1. I can't afford a completely new install of my computer....

brent Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Are you by any chance using WIndows XP Tablet edition? I have had the same problem on every tablet PC I have tried. Unfortunately the official response I got fom Siemens regarding this is that "They don't support XP Tablet edition" Thanks for the workaround of starting the cross reference program directly from explorer and not Simatic Manager - this works on my machine! Previously I was using a Virtual Machine with Step7 installed for any cross reference needs.

I downloaded a windows update for DotNet 1.1 and a windows update for DotNet 2.0 from the Microsoft Update Page (not quick update but the advanced update page). After installing my cross reference started working again.... Best Regards, AJ

Bee Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I recently upgraded my S7 V5.4 from SP4 to SP5. I found with a project loaded in Simatic manager , right clicking on Block then selecting Reference data / Display produced a completely blank cross reference window. I tried all the recommendations previously but could not get them to work.Last resort was to uninstall SP5 and re-install SP4. Normally, S7 software is not backwards compatible. However, I was able to open the project successfully and right clicking on Block now produced a normal cross reference. System config was: 1. Windows XP SP2 (No updates) 2. IE7 3. Net 1.1 4. Net 2.0 SP1 5. Net 3.0 SP1 6. S7 project contained S7-300 CPU and an integrated WinCC flexible 2008 SP2 project Not sure why this occurred but it may help someone else.
