transfer software to MP277

petermat Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	I have a problem with transfering software to MP277. I have connected my notebook to MP277's MPI and I can establish connection. I have tried transfering osftware both from WinCC flexible 2008 and Step 7 5.4 sp3 hf1. 1) when downloading from Step7, using compile and download objects options, in first step (configurazion) s I receive status downloaded, and in second step (WInCC flexible RT) I receive status undefined. 2) When transfering from WinCC flexible, no error message is displayed (I also tried with enable back transfer enabled option). Before transfering, I have done Rebuild All option. When I look at the file structure on the flash, pdata.fwx is identical (made a compration) to the one in my project folder. Even so, old software is running on the OP, I have rebboted HMI, powered down PLC, and no progress. One of the warnings I receive in log when transfering from Step7 is that HMI IE is not networked. altough I dont believe its of importance. Also, if its of any help, when I disconnect MPI cable from the HMI I receive no bus fault on the PLC. Communication betwen PLC and HMI works. Any advice?

If I understood correctly, it is not possible to connect to HMI over PC adapter, which I am currently using. I also have with me network crosover and straight cables. So, in order to understand this situation better, I need answers to several questions, but before I ask them, I will give some insight into my project: Network structure is next: main PLC, HMI MP277 are networked over MPI. Rest of the devices are networked through profibus. My project is: 1) Does main PLC need to be involved when transfering software to HMI - or I can disconnect HMI and connect my notebook directly to it? 2) Can I transfer sofwtare into HMI with lan cable, where theere is no ethernet network present in the STep7 configuration (PLC is not connected to ethernet netwrork)? 3) What exactly is happening when software is transfered to HMI? For example, I have succesfully transfered 4 files over MPI PC Adapter to HMI. Since software is not updated, it seems that something else should aalso be involved. WHat is it? 4) If I have 1 main PLC (MPI), 1 slave PLC (profibus) and 1 HMI (MPI) integrated in my step7 software, should I do complete download or should I do separate download for all three parts? And if complete, which interface should I use Since both MPI and profibus are involved)?

petermat Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Thank you for answers. I have already visited these links, but I was kind of unsure how this all works. Strangely enough, on the MPI link it says it is not possible to do this with PC adapter, but I have managed to do so. Thanks again.
