I am using Logo!Soft Comfort V8.3 on a Logo! 8.FS4

I am struggling to see a way of doing this, and I want to start counting at the least significant bit.

Does anyone have any suggestions or working code to show it could be done?

Instead of using 8 or 16 individual flags, I'd rather just have 1 word transmitted over Modbus that is a bitmap of flags.

In the title i read out a wish, that you want to count the amount of bits, which have high signal. If you have a collection of 1 word = 16 bits, how many bits of the word have high signal. Is it so ?

In the second entrie you want to collect single bits to a word for transfering at once over Modbus. For this you also can use network inputs/outputs NIx/NQx, use e.g. V0.0 up to V1.7 for one word VW0.

What I was trying to do was get a word over Modbus and have the PLC software look at specific bits of that word to treat as flags.  Scorp provided the correct solution in that you could just use a network input to look at specific bits of a word.

My request for being able to shift bytes to look at the LSB or MSB was a programming exercise, ultimately just so I could look at flags in a word received over Modbus.  I still think it would be useful to create a loop of events based on a bitmap received over Modbus, but this ability does not seem possible in this software.
