This is an extract from the S7-31xC and S7-31x CPU Technical specifications manual: Properties (of the MPI interface) The MPI (Multi-Point Interface) represents the CPU interface for PG/OP connections, or for communication on an MPI subnet. The typical (default) transmission rate of all CPUs is 187.5 kbps. You can also set 19.2 kbps for communication with an S7-200. The 315-2 PN/DP and 317 CPUs support transmission rates up to 12 Mbps. Please provide mor einformation on the system componentsthat you are using and we may give you a better idea. Or even easier, look at the CPU ports on the PLC; if the MPI port is marked "MPI", then probably the speed is limited to a maximum of 187,5 kB; if it is marked "MPI/DP", then it can go up to 12 MB. hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

Eastern Posts: 557 Rating: (64)	SIR i am using 315-2dp R redundency, IN case of R redundency on MPI port communication data is exchange, my problem is i am transfar 6 kb redundent data,so it is taking 18 sec to update, so i wanted to increase the transmission rate on MPI , is there any other method to reduce this time......... vivek

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Best you can do - open HWKonfig, doubleclick on MPI and try to change speed. That can be dobe in network proterties (you should connect MPI network to your port). 315-2AG10 supports up to 12Mbit/s

(If you reduce this time your data transfer will get faster) Try to optimize your redundant data and transfer important data only (i.e setpoints and alarm limits and any data PLC may get from operator stations) and avoid any calculated or internally used data in your S7 program because in all cases it's transferred after little time so there's no use of transferring it to the standby CPU.
