Hi All,

I purchased a machine with a 808D Lathe controller last year and only now starting to get time to use it. The machine was made to my spec but I fear that the manufcturer was not the most informed as to the total capability of the 808D control.

For a start, the tool post orientation is incorrect. This is manifest when I set up offsets of tools that, relative to the machine are edges 1 & 2 but the controller compensates in the opposite direction when using the inbuilt cycles. I have been through all the MD codes and for the life of me cannot find where the toolpost position relative to the axes is set! Can anyone share how this is done?

Second question revealed itself when trying to do a Boring Cycle. The end of the cycle requires the spindle to orientate itself and then retract the tool. It throws up an error 010203 which means that the axis is not homed. I have modified the axis specific data to ensure that it does not require the spindle to actually be homed before start of Auto/MDI running but the positioning of the spindle is not great. It is not a servo motor driven spindle, it is only a 4.kW spindle motor coupled with a 1:1 rotary encoder.

the question is can I use a boring cycle without the positioning of the spindle or is there any parameter that I can change to make the spindle more tolerant without destroying the threading control?
