S7 to A-B SLC-5/05 communications

craigb Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I need to communicate between a Siemens S7 and a A-B/Rockwell SLC-5/05 PLC. I am currently looking at the following options, but need some direction as to which is the best viable solution... 1) Use a Profinet IO Proxy and Component Based Automation to pass data between the two PLCs 2) Add a Profibus DP module in the SLC rack to communicate Profibus DP between the two PLCs I'm not even sure if option 2 will work as I envision it in my head. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as option 2 goes, others have looked at it before, and the solutions work very well Here are 2 of them: From Prosoft technology: http://www.prosoft-technology.com/prosoft/products/for_rockwell_automation/protocol/fieldbus_automation/profibus_dp/mvi46_pdpmv1 From Brad/Woodward (SST): http://www.industrialnetworking.com/Category/Profibus-Modules/SST-PFB-SLC Just remember that you must set either the S7 Profibus interface as master and the SLC as slave, or the reverse. This is tyhe easiest way to exchange data between 2 CPUs over Profibus-DP. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
