I'm supporting a project that has: a Control PC, an Automation Direct P2-550 PLC, and a Rice Lake 880 scale head. The devices are connected through a Stride SE switch in the panel. The scale head communicates using Modbus TCP/IP. We've been having a sporadic issue where the PC momentarily stops receiving updates from the scale head, leading to inaccuracy in our control. My suspicion is that the scale heads aren't able to serve the data as quickly as we are requesting it, but I haven't ran a packet capture yet to isolate modbus exception codes. My fear is that modbus may not be the most appropriate protocol for this application. Anyone experienced similar issues or have any advice? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
