Trying to access bytes in a siemens PLC using a cp343-1 module, from apc running Intouch SCADA, via DAServer sidirect.
It was stated in DAServer sidirect's manual, that the hardware of cp343-1 with orderno as 343-1 ex11-0xe0 will be surported.
I have a 343-1 ex21-0xe0, and a 314-1AG13-0AB0 cpu. What can I do tocommunicate witha siemens's CPU? I had followed a technote from Wondereware showing how to get connected step by step, but failed.
Any hints may be appreciated. Thanks.

I did have follow the instructions in that tech note, and I have no problem with pinging the PLC.
Details:
Sidirect was configured as CpS7_1\S7Cp_343, followed the technote's steps, then Activated the server, Started Intouch and it tried to comm with PLC. Now I switch to SMC(System Management Console), located to Diagnostic \ Transactions \ DiagnosticInfo, It said something like this:
Name: CpS7_1\S7Cp_343.MB90
Read status: pending
Write status: Complete
Value: 40
Type: VT_UI1 - 1 byte unsigned int
Time: Just now
Write Result: Error [The device is not connected, data cannot be acquired]

When you started Intouch, Did you make necessary access name in 'maker". I suggest you to prepare one simple application with one tag. For example from PLC you'll receive one bit DB1,x0.0. And make one tag in maker. Put this tag and connect it with two colours in Viewer and look there. Change the state of this in PLc and you must see changind the colours in Viewer.

It's better way to create new access name (yours)- the project how it to say goes more clear. Access name in Intouch Maker must the same like topic name,see http://www.iload.us/show.php?type=image&id=1191228341.jpg that you create in System Managment Console

And one more thing: Wonderware client is only to check the connection. You can see the connection in Diagnostics in DASSIDIRECT server. (see point 11 of http://61.37.246.137/TECH/html/t001161.htm.

In diagnostics , i don't remember exactly where, but you must see all the topics, and after select someone you must see for example db(?).dbx or db(?).dbd? - with red or green square before name, and see column with status (read/w
