I recently purchased (brand new machine) a VMC with Sinumerik One Control.

I am experiencing poor surface finish on the bottom of pockets. There are "gouges" in the material. This occurs in all material types, with multiple different kinds of fixturing, tooling, etc. The VMC was re-leveled and re-tramped and the condition still exists. See photo. The circles can be felt with a finger and measured with a dial test indicator (about 8 to 10 microns)

The poor surface finish occurs with Top Surface, Advanced Surface whether they are on or off.

This only occurs with flat cutters. 3D surfacing finishes are very impressive on this machine.

I can improve the situation using:

ACC[X] = 50

ACC[Y] = 50

ACC[Z] = 50

But the problem still happens. A Siemens Mechatronics Engineer visited and ran axis traces. He "de-tuned" the machine but it only improved the problem slightly.

I feel as though maybe the machine needs more servo tuning.

I know what you are talking about... Sinumerik ONE has different behavior as before.

We face similar problems. Finally is like the motion is not smooth and has like micro-stops on movements.

I can give you some tricks.

First there is a special program to check it the Compressor is correctly adjusted. Is just a program that check the parameters you have and create a report with the recommended parameters. MDCV91.MPF is the program I have as last version.

Check if in you program has change speed from G0/G1. We have found a problem about entries from G0 to G1 that make an over-movement with wrong speed that produce wrong finishing parts...

last thing. Try to set on the head program, or at least before start milling:

also maybe you have to set CFIN and CTOL=xxx

 COMPCURV is no longer available on sinumerik One.

 Hi nulizhang. Do you have the procedure for running this auto-tuning cycle? I cannot find the procedure. I can only find it for 840D and 828. Not Sinumerik ONE

 It is very common issue with new machine , for any brand/make CNC, (not only for Siemens CNC)

Normally Machine builder/OEM make Siemens CNC system to match their machine mechanical.

I know some OEM will send technician to end user customer to help making good products

You mentioned Siemens sent mechanical person, he should know how to tune the machine --normally servo drive speed controller need tuning .

I know 840D Powerline and solutionline all have "Automatic Tuning" under Drive Start-UP Menu.

You can try it  yourself 

so for remote help will be very limited

 Hi Txote. Where do I find this MDCV91.MPF program?

I was just looking at the Sinumerik One NC programming manual and was going to try SOFT command with JERKLIM.

The photo I shared was cut with Cycle832 Top Surface 0.0004 inch tolerance. What type of machine is your Sinumerik ONE on?

Hi: I was out of office for a long time... ;)

About the soft and Brisk, from my point of view you must always needs to work with SOFT as a default. To set this as a default then $MC_GCODE_RESET_VALUES[20]=2. I dont know which type of machine are able to work with BRISK, but if your machine are big enough then SOFT is mandatory (and a correct accel and jerk).

Be sure to make a full backup before tangle anything. The idea is the that you execute the program, And the program just create a text report with the desired values you need to change. Then one by one you have to update values according the report.

At least, if you execute the program you will have and idea how many parameters you need to change. In my case.... A LOT, and LOT OF new parameters that I never use before... so at first you will be scary about... probably at the end you will change all of then...and no results... In our case the header I told you before about activations was the best to achieve good results...
