ASiSafe connector pin assignments

Swright Posts: 26 Rating: (0)	I am searching for definition of the pin assignments of M12 connectors, standard, Y, and Y-II. I am curious as towhy the Y-II connection is used on safety rated modules. Can anyone help me? Thanks

jklm Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, In this manual: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/26250840 on page 170 and 171, you can see the pin assignment. In my opinion, the Y-II connector allows to have two leads for power supply. And a failsafe module deivers two sensor supplies, one for each sensor (see p 368). To be able to detect cross-connections (short-circuits) between channels. I believe that this is the reason.
