hi every one.
i have a CPU s7-300 in my factory, and i also have a ET 200S and they communicate.

My ET 200S has a memory card which is full right now and i cant add any more FCs or even blocks.

is there a problem if i buy a new SD card with bigger memory and insert it in? what is the procedure i need to do for this? will i need to rewrite all my DB data ?

replacing the MMC will only change the load memory. Work and retentive memory can't be expanded (see technical data).

 it is easy answer just like if your PC isn't more capable work with some huge big application what needs some more resources. So what you wil do then? Buy new more powerful PC.

With our Control areas, you have more possibilities but your tactic is somehow not good if you didn't see already that you can have problem with resources and memory of CPU. Bad step. This is simply some general recomemndation because we don't know nothing about your actual HW situation, complexity.

1. do quite big optimization of your code, memory data.

2. add new PLC type and connect it to existing network what will solve another part of control areas. Here it can be already problem with ET200S because you need prepare some data exchange, here is only S7 protocol PUT/GET available as Server side on ET200S what can be ok, all depends to added new CPU and what you want to do.

3. replace ET200S with some more powerfull HW type and rework its HW/SW to new HW (more problematic step).

that was my second question, when i try to download it ask me if i want to compress, what is it actually doing if i compress? will it make any problems for my program?
