We have two types of machines, Type A and Type B. B type machines only have s7-1212. Type A systems include the s7-1214 (or s7-1215) and IM151-3. There are more than 250 machines on our network with different IP spaces.

We want to have only one PLC program for each type and update the PLC program of all systems with the Simatic Automation Tool using the "Program Update" feature.

I activate the setting "Set IP address directly on the device" for PLC CPU modules. So there is no problem with IP settings for CPUs.

But I guess an IP address needs to be set for the IM151-3 in the TIA Portal interface. If we set aten ip address in the program update file, we will have a communication problem when we try to update the program for any system.

What are your recommendations regarding this issue?
