I been installed the Simatic Net V12 software to the Window 10 HMI. however the simatic net software wasn't installed to my computer but there are some misc software were successful installed to my computer like station configuration editor, opc communication setup and etc...

Even thought the Simatic Net wasn't installed to my HMI but my HMI is still using the station configuration and the OPC function to connect to the PLC.

I have done the action above and keep turn on the HMI for few week and i didn't see any license required window prompting out for asking.

The question here is: Do i need purchase the Simatic Net V12 whole license for my HMI user?

The free Simatic Net license allows you up to 10 connections. If you want to expand, you will need to purchase one of the payment options (Softnet, Hardnet or Extended). Check this link, and this.

i think you are misunderstood my cases here, my problem is as we known the simatic net 12 is no longer support to win10 system, but due to the some reason we are still installing the Simatic net to our client win10 computer in order to communicate with PLC via the station configuration and opc settings.

Of course during the installation, the Softnet wasn't installed successfully because of the compatibility of ver 12 to Win10. but except of that the rest of the features are been installed successfully such as the station configuration , opc settings, and etc.

so my question here is that ok we didnt buy the license but still using the siemens product even only the Station Configuration and OPC settings?
