if you would like to perform a complete upload (as new station hw + sw), this is only possible via the "serarch for accessible devices".

For this method, a mac adress broadcast and the dcp protocol is used.
This must be supported by all devices (including vpn tunnels if used) on the complete connection path, as well as this must not be blocked/restricted in any security settings firewalls.

For the online connection itself, only the ip address istself is necessary.
So yes. It may be possible to establish the online connection, but not the upload as a complete new station, as different methods are used.
