I have a system that has a number of controllers.  Typically, when you compile a server, WinCC would take the AS (Controller) logic and create AS Messages in Alarm Logging.

What is happening is that when you compile, not all of the alarms are getting created in WinCC Alarm Logging (AS Messages)  It works on one PLC in the set one time and then shifts to another one.

How do you make this work on all controllers all the time?

The system was migrated from a V7.1 SP2 up to V9.0 SP1.

Essentially, every time you compile WinCC either partial of full, it fails to consistently add the alarm messages from the CFC's into AS Messages in Alarm Logging.  It is not consistent which PLC it successfully compiles the AS alarm messages either. One compile it does one PLC, another compile it does another PLC.  It never does all the PLC's.  All of the alarms would show on the icons, but not all the messages would compile and show.

Controllers are the S7410's, but were S7417's.

We found a painful workaround.  Completely rebuilding the servers in the project, and deleting the ones that were migrated from the earlier version.

The ideal situation would have been to locate the actual cause of the issue so we could fix that, instead of blowing away the the servers and starting over.

I have run into this issue as well on v8.2 (I think 9.0 too) and have not found a 100% working solution to the issue. And it is a real problem because one has no idea which message isnt going to work on the next download. It doesnt happen all the time, mostly it does not happen, but when it does, it is a bear.

My standard protocol when I encounter this issue is this: Remove the offending block that is generating the message (MonDil, EventNck, whatever) and perform a full compile of both the AS and OS (no need to download). Then re-add the block, not a copy, but from the library (which is a pain all in itself because what if you dont use most of the default settings of the block). The perform a full compile again of the AS/OS. This usually works for me, but not always on the first go round...
