I was at a customer site recently that had a power outage. The client complained that they had lost communication between their HMI and the PLC.

Approaching the PLC it had and SF fault, the customer claimed they attaempted a mres but it did not resolve the issue.

Product is a  VIPA 315-4NE12.

I was unable to ping the processor via ethernet at its designated IP.

Ultimately I went online with the processor and found that the CP-343-1 (1) had failed. The rack has not other lean ethernet module in it so ultimately the processor was replaced and the program loaded from the memory card.

After doing this the PLC was able to communicate to the HMI and the rest of the industrial ethernet devices. I am not sure I understand why this device shows up the way it does in the hard ware config or how the diagnostic buffer points me in the direction of the onboard ethernet failing. I will attach images of both here.

As stated this issue was resolved by replacing the PLC I am just trying to understand the diagnosing steps better.
