CDee Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi all, This is my first plc/hmi project in life so go easy on me if I don't get everything correct, just going off my limited understanding. I am finishing up an HMI upgrade project from FactoryLink to iFix and one of the added features would be remote diagnostics and firmware download. The sole purpose of this connection is to be used with the PG/PC via Step7. So I ran into some problems being able to set the IP address of the CP, but later on this was sorted out. Coming close to the end of the project we realized a particular CPU was obsolete and now would the time change to a newer version. We changed to the CPU315-2 PN/DP with the intention that it would do 2 things (replace current osolete CPU and allow change of IP address via HMI). I was referred to use FB65 but to my understanding that helps settings the connection (passive) and changes the remote IP address. What I need is a method of changing the IP address on the CPU. Note: The equipment being used is mobile and is located all over the world and moves locations every so often, thus the reason for requiring the functionality to change IP, Subnet and Gateway all via the HMI. This is also due to the fact that these locations do not own copies of STEP7 and we would prefer to restrict access. The S7 connections on the network run on Profibus. Any ideas ? jklm Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, I don't believe that you can change the IP address of the CPU via the program. But you can change the IP address of a communication processor CP with the FB55. See in this manual: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/30374198 In chapter 8, they explain how programmed connections work. You can set connections but also some system data for the CP (one item being the IP address). May be you shoud consider to add a CP to your configuartion.

CDee Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	EDR, I had initially started out the project with a CP-343-1 Lean and it allowed me to change the IP as you mentioned using the FB55 to make it work. I was hoping to have that functionality as well as the update my obsolete CPU all in one, but it seems that's currently not possible. So I'll have to revert to purchasing a CP 343-1 lean and a CPU 315-2 PN/DP. Thanks for the feedback.
