1       Innovations and Changes Compared to Earlier Versions

1.1      What has Changed Compared to Version STEP 7 V5.7?

General

• The display of the warning regarding necessary revised option packages with enabled monitoring of the application integrity has been improved.

Programming LAD/STL/FBD blocks

• The flickering of the cursor when moving the mouse has been remedied.

HW Config

• The handling of special characters in GSDML file names has been improved.
• Password Protection when Inserting a CPU
  To ensure high security standards, password protection will be introduced as of STEP 7 V5.7 Hotfix 2 when inserting a CPU.
  This means that when inserting a CPU, protection level 3 is set automatically. When the hardware is subsequently compiled, a message is displayed which informs you that this CPU is protected by a password and that a password must be entered. The password is entered in the object properties of the CPU in the "Protection" tab.
  The "Enable protection when inserting a CPU" is enabled by default. It is available in HW Config underOptions > Settingsin the "Protection" tab. We do not recommend disabling this option.
• For CPUs which support the "SNMP configurable" function, SNMP is deactivated by default to offer higher protection against unauthorized access via the network.
  
• • The properties dialog of a PROFINET IO system ("Update time" tab) was supplemented by the display of the watchdog time as well as a button with which the watchdog time for MRP can be set to "> 200ms".
