Hi, An I-Device is an intelligent IO-Device. As with normal IO-Controller ↔ IO-Device communication in the PROFINET scope, the IO data is sent cyclically from the device to the controller. This is done based on the Ethernet protocol (without using IP, TCP or UDP). Since the I-Device sends the data in a defined cycle, the IO-Controller detects a communication failure due to a missing PROFINET telegram. If the number of missing telegrams exceeds a configured limit (default 3), the IO-Controller generates an alarm due to a missing IO-Device. Nevertheless, the IO-Controller continues to reach the device. Further information about the I-Device can be found in the function manual "PROFINET with STEP 7". Kind regards |
