Hello,

I would like to use Real Time Clock in S71200 to send time/date in serial data through CM1241 RS232 module. When reading time/date, the data is in several numbers (year four digit, month two digit etc). I need to select single digits of the numbers to seperately convert it to ASCII and send over the SEND_PTP with CM1241. 

How do I select single digits form eg. Year 2023?  Would like to breakdown 2023 to  2, 0, 2, 3 so I can convert each digit to ASCII (Add 48 to the value) and then sendt each single digit over RS232.

Is there also a method to check how many digits a number is (so the program knows how many times the conversion must take place? Year is 4 digit, month and day is 2 digit etc..

Using the search words "DTL to string" should give you some hits in the SiePortal search tool. Converting from String to Array of Char use the Strg_To_Char instruction.

But is there a okay way to pick out single digits from a number. If the number is 1234, pick out 1 and place in MB1, pick out 2 and place in MB2, pick out 3 and place in MB3...

So you would be looking for a BCD representation. 

There is no missing or obscured code because of the PLC-status window.  It is covering up white space.

Is threre an easy SCL-code to pick out the four numbers one by one and put the values in separate MW's? 

I can s't see your SCL-code in your attached picture, as the PLC-status window is covering some of it.

You are already using BCD -- yet you still have doubts? There must be some miss communication on my part.

Perhaps it is time for you to show us what you are doing. We would like to see what you are putting in, what you are getting as result and what you were expecting. Multiple screen grabs can be attached as a ZIP file.

When the BCD-conversion is taken place, the result from BCD is placed in MW1006. The value is Year: 2023.  I would like to take the value in MW1006 what is 2023 to place in MW10, MW12, MW14 and MW16. So MW10 contain 2,  MW12 contain 0,  MW10 contain 2,  MW10 contain 3.

Is there an easy way to do this in SLC or Ladder?

It should be easy for you to make this pattern into a program 

2023 mod 10 = 3  [MW16]
2023  /  10 = 202
202  mod 10 = 2  [MW14]
202   /  10 = 20
20   mod 10 = 0  [MW12]
20    /  10 = 2  [MW10]

Keeping with the BCD theme; assume MW1006 has the name of "bcdValue". The digit can be isolated by using the formula:

 rotate-word-right(%MW1006, #N) AND 16#F
