I probably does not understand something fundamental so please help me.

I created a new project in TIA 18 update 3, added MTP1500 and added 1 empty screen.

What surprised me is that the screen is totally transparent - all layers are visible.

How can i get my background on the screen with object?

I can't reproduce the behavior, everything works fine for me. Have you tried closing and reopening the screen? With V18 Update 2, this method helped when graphics were displayed incorrectly.

 I tried closing TIA and restarting and the same thing hapens.

What is really strange i managed to migrate project from 17 to 18 and download to MPT panel which works ok but when i open any of the existing screens there is nothign shown at all other than screen title.

I crated fresh dummy project which has the same behaviour.

1. What can i be possibly missing - do i need maybe panel image? But if that was missing i would not be able to download to the physical panel - is that right?
2. Is there any diagnostic log i should examine?

It seems that something went wrong with your installation. You can try to perform a repair installation of WinCC Unified ES or you can report your problem to Siemens by submitting a support request.

i will try to repair it first. I checked my installed components and simatic wincc runtime advanced simulation V17.0 Upd6 is still there as if it was not upgraded.

Is it not replaced by new version 18 of the runtime?

Can you please advise me on the repair procedure?

when doing repair of the Wincc Unified shall i start with the repair using base 18 version ISO and then do the same for the version 18 Upd3 or shall i start from 18Upd3?

It would be faster to just do a repair install of Update 3. However, if that does not help, you will have to try a repair of V18 first, followed by Update 3.

So it is up to you how you want to proceed. It might be a waste of time if it has nothing to do with your installation. However, since you are the only one reporting this at the moment, it is probably not a common problem.

 Repair did not help but install from scratch did work.
