Why is it not possible to use Array[*]?

RobbeVG Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I'm using TIA Portal V17 and I want to use Array[] of "Recept". "Recept" is a UDT but I've tried it with an INT and it still doesn't work. It used to work but while working on other parts of the project this error started to accur. The error is "An ARRAY with variable limits is not permitted". Does anyone know how to fix this? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Split from Array[] for S71200 CPU.

Towome Platinum Expert Joined: 7/9/2015 Last visit: 1/15/2026 Posts: 4496 Rating: (644)	Hi, ARRAY[] is available in optimized blocks for a CPU of the S7-1200 series as of firmware version >= 4.2, and for a CPU of the S7-1500 series as of firmware version >= 2.0. In functions (FC) you can use ARRAY[] in all declaration subsections. In function blocks (FB) you can declare ARRAY[*] only as an in-out parameter in the "InOut" section. Regards, Towome
