AutoGen_3490985 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Hey guys, I'm with a problem that I don't know if can be solved in SCL... I am using CanBus communication, and I want to transmit 8 bool values to it from an HMI, it would be 8 switches to turn on and off the variables. But I need to transmit this 8 bool values in only one byte. Is there a way to pack this values in this single byte? Thanks

In a Siemens HMI, you can multiplex a PLC byte tag into 8 bits (Bools), plus a "submit" (or "send" or "bits ready") button to have the PLC accept the 8 bits as "complete" for sending out via CAN. In the PLC, you can have 8 bool tags that map to a single PLC byte tag many ways. Maybe what you want to know is better solved by sharing a little more about your hardware. PLC: S7-300/400 or S7-1200/1500? HMI: Siemens? Basic/Comfort/Advanced/RT? Look at the "here" link for ways to see 8 bits as a byte, and the ways Siemens has given us for manipulating those bits. Some instructions require S7-1200/1500 above a certain Firmware revision and a certain TIA Portal version. We do not know what your target devices are, so giving a "optimal" or even "good" suggestion is difficult without the "shotgun" approach (where you spray a wide range of solutions and overwhelm the person seeking help because they under-provided information). Sadly, I am all to guilty of this in these forums, yet, it may help a wider audience long-term. AutoGen_3490985 Hey guys, I'm with a problem that I don't know if can be solved in SCL... At least when using Siemens panel you can use absolute addressing for HMI tags. E.g. PLC tag = DB1.DBB0 HMI tags = DB1.DBX0.0, DB1.DBX0.1, ... DB1.DBX0.7 Regards, Frink
