They can be exported, but the question is can they be imported as the structure of the exported XML changes between versions of TIA. For some reason. I tried moving blocks from TIA 18 to TIA15_1 and the generated XML's are too different for importing them (at least that's what seems to be the issue). But the weirder part is that copy-pasting ladder diagrams is not supported. Why? Is the difference between how it works so large between TIA versions? Also, why is generating source files from ladder blocks not supported? If I can generate an XML, why not a source file? I just keep hitting barriers with TIA, it's not a very convenient software.

Are you asking about software that Siemens stopped updating anything other than security or bug fixes long ago? Or are you simply venting about the Kindergarten version of Openness (v15.1) compared to the middle school version of Openness available in V18/V19?
