Hi all,

I have installed a new 828d cnc controller to my Hardinge cnc milling machinining centre.

Actually I converted it from the old 810d system, to the latest Sinumerik 828d system.

I connected 828d controller with Sinamic S120 Combi Driver.

Using the STARTER software everything is working fine. All Motors are working, and working fine in both directions and with the right rpm speeds.

However when I try to operate the motors from the jog screen of the 828d controller, the position of the axis on screen changes, but the motors do not work.

I am using the  X,Y,Z buttons together with the + or - keys  on the Mcp310PN keypad to try to move the motors.

Obviously I selected the jog screen first.

The position of the X, Y or Z  change on the screen, however the motors do not move.

There are no alarms on the 828d controller either.

The Mcp310pn works fine as all other keys are working fine.

Can it be that I need to set some specific parameters from the many MD parameters of the controller?

The fact that the position on screen does change indicates that all the plc logic is correct.

The only problem is that the Motors are not responding in line with the changes on the screen.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Can you attach the archive file (ard) so we can see how the NC machine data is currently configured?

I do not have the ard files right now as I am away from my workshop throughout this week, but I do have a picture of all the MD Axis related parameters.

They are all attached.

Can you kindly check whether I need to change anything in it?

I have also attached pictures of all the Licenses I have available.

The XYZ values roll on the screen once I press the corresponding jog keys but the motors do not move.

I followed all the PLC logic as found in the 828d toolbox examples but still without success.

I finally managed to do it.

The problem was the assignment of the axis.

The 828d controller never gave me the option to ASSIGN the axis.

Accoriding to the manual there is supposed to be a Assign Axis softkey, but in reality my controller never displayed this softkey.

Then I used the 840d Toolbox  to assign the axis.

Using this toolbox I accessed the startup Tool, and then I managed to Assign teh axis from my Computer.

It is very strange that the controller never displays the option to Assign the axis.

But at last I managed.

Do you know why the controller never displays the Axis Assignment softkey?
