I have a mass flow controller that is normally closed. For it to open and control the flow rate I need to provide a signal between 0 and 5 volt. For that I have an ET 200SP with an an AQ 4xU/I ST.

I have not that much experience with TIA Portal (near none). I have been watching some videos and so I copied what they did for my case.

The issue I am having. It is actually performing the calculation, but the controller is not actually opening. Furthermore, I disconnected the wires of the controller and connected my multimeter and what I saw was, that the voltage went up to around 2V and then dropped quickly again to 0... So I am not sure if there should be something done, so that the voltage keeps up and does not decay.

I Tested with an external power supply to provide the 0-5V and the connection works fine (So the wires are not the problem).

Also I got the TIA Portal to show me the current value for the actual value of the mass flow measured by the controller... So yeah, the issue is just to get the output module to provide a constant analog signal...I was checking the datasheet as well as my TIA Portal configuration of it and it is already set to 0-10V.

Do you have some idea what could the issue be?

 The image you shared is attached to this response. Please do attach materials with your messages. ZIP the contents if there are several images or if it is a format that is not directly handled by this forum.

Test the analog output by disconnecting the output word from your program and directly writing a value from the watch table. In such a way you can confirm the physical working. Best to measure the voltage output with a meter when the analog output is connected to something.

In the image you shared it can be seen that you have overlapping memory. %MD0 includes %MB0 to %MB3. %MD2 includes the four bytes %MB2 to %MB6.

Better to not use M-tags but rather use global DBs. Global DBs do not have this overlapping problem. But in the case of the %MD2, you could have made a temporary tag in the code block.

Is your issue resolved after fixing the overlapping memory problem?

I will keep in mind your recommendation regarding images :). I just tested the analog output without any programmation, just changing the value on the watch table (from 0 to 13000), the multimeter showed a value of 2,49V and then dropped again to 0. Could it be caused by some sort of protection? Or maybe that the signal is just being emited in one cycle and not as a constant value?

Just tested the also de DB approach that you recommend and the result is exactly the same. Still is much easier than keeping on mind which %M you already used :D.

The only thing I was missing was the connection between the individual ground connection for each output and the global ground!
