Dear samibh the wealth of choices on how to do this can surely be overwhelming and J_Bell has already given you some really good advise. Looking at your requirements(e.g. small amount of non-time critical data, ease of program implementationprefeered over "flexibilty" or "power" to control the comms, possible use of onboard PN interface etc.) I'd recommend to useGETcalls related S7 communication. The only thing to look for is that you need to use FB14 GET in the S7-300 and SFB14 GET in the S7-400. Apart from that you configureONE S7 connection in NETPRO, programONE (FB14) GET call in the S7-300 to read data from the S7-400 and ONE (SFB14) GET call in the S7-400 to read data from the S7-300. Have a look at thislinks too which has more on usage of GET (and PUT): Sample Program: S7 Communication with blocks FB14 ("GET") und FB15 ("PUT") of the CPU 317-2PN/DP And just for completness here are a couple of links to manuals that I believe will come in very handy should you wish to dwelve deeper in the beautiful world of communciationwith Siemens PLC's: Communication with SIMATIC S7 Selection Criteria for Networks and Services I hope this helps and good luck with you project cheers fritz |
