Positioning Axis with G120C and Absolute encoder IFM RM3911 (profinet)

GioCapDA Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hello, I would like to try to use an absolute multiturn profinet encoder ( IFM model RM3011) as position sensor in a technological object To_positioningaxis. The drive is a Sinamics G120C Profinet. I saw that the IFM telegram is the number 81 and it seems that it is identical to the telegram 81 requested by Siemens (Standard???). Has anyone tried this solution before? Does IFM telegram 81 match the one requested by Siemens or is it just a coincidence? In case it is ok, I think it is necessary to define the topology of the inverter and the encoder...or not? Thank you all. Giovanni

RB91 Gold Member Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 1/14/2026 Posts: 1278 Rating: (302)	This is not a coincidence - as this is a PROFINET encoder I assume it also uses the PROFIdrive profile and the telegram 81 is defined for encoder objects and it has the correct structure for the TO. So you can use it as position feedback for your TO.

Connecting rm3010 as the encoder of a technology object. Did you get this to work? Is it necessary to call the mc_power block for the encoder? Greetings, Tim Geens
