Write data to RFID tag with RF260R via IO-Link variables

Barth12345 Joined: 9/20/2022 Last visit: 10/21/2024 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello everyone, We have the SIMATIC RF260R RFID device and have to control it via a Codesys SoftPLC. The RF260R is connected to our IPC via an IO-Link master via Profinet. We have successfully configured the device in the IO-Link configuration and can read the PAE variables and write the PAA variables. We also have a MDS D460 tag with example data written to it. We can read out this data successfully by setting the CMD variable to the value 2 (binary 00000010). However, we now want to write new data to the tag and have entered the value one to the write_data_variable_1 for this purpose. We leave the other PAA variables at 0 except for the CMD variable, which we set to the value 1 for writing. After setting the CMD variable, we immediately receive the error code 0x0005, which indicates a parameterisation error. Unfortunately, we have not found any further documentation or an example of how the RFID must be parameterised if it is controlled directly via the IO-Link variables (PAA). We have also looked into the TIA function block for the RFID reader, but we have not been able to fully understand the programming there. If there is any documentation on the exact parameterisation when writing a tag via the PAA variables of the RF260R or examples of this, it would be very helpful. Regards, Thomas

You wrote that the error code is 0x0005. I'm asking because it's written as a WORD and the status is a BYTE. I'm just stating that in case there somthing special in the PLC to be aware of. Please add here the first 8 Bytes of PAA for Read and Write the first 12 Bytes of PAE after READ was successfull

No, we get the error code as a byte, we only changed to hexadecimal representation to be able to search for the error in the manual. Unfortunately I can't identify which bytes are the first 8 of PAA or the first 12 of PAE in our interface but I have attached the I/O image of reading and writing as a screenshot Attachment Screenshot-merged.png (201 Downloads)

The only idea I have is that the reader is a 6GT2821-6AC32 (right?) and that the FW-Version is < V1.2.5. If so, the write command isn't supported. Btw. this could be confusing: parameterisation error (5) is correlated to the command sent to the reader (parameterisation of that command. Not the parameterisation of the reader)

You could also look at the reader product plate (on the side of the reader). The Functional State (FS) has to be at least AS B. You can't update the FW, you'd have to send it in.
