Modbus RS485 on a TP177B Does this work?

Bluefish Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Trying to get a simple Modbus RTU slave communicating with a TP177B over the RS485 port. The 177B only has RS485/422 available. Manual does not mention RS485 only RS232 (manual was written when TP's had RS232 ports) Flex allows the configuration to be set up. Has anyone been successful in implementing this? The port does not seem to be active (no electrical activity) when the modbus driver is active. (port does work if I swich over to a MPI to communicate with a Siemens PLC)

Bluefish Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I disagree. The manual shows a RS422 connection using a RS422 to RS232 converter. This does work for Modbus RTU on a RS232 port. I believe that Siemens never created the driver for RS485 and they should disable the option in WinCC flex. (and state it more clearly in their manuals/literature)

how come Posts: 382 Rating: (47)	Dear Bluefish, I dont know whether this would help you. You may want to consider using RS232/RS485 converter from phoenix contact. I ever used this before for my modbus RTU application. The part no. is PSM-ME-R232/RS485-P. Hope this helps! with regards, how come?
