PN/CAN Link Communication Error

Ufuk1985 Experienced Member Joined: 3/2/2017 Last visit: 1/5/2026 Posts: 99 Rating: (3)	Hello, I'm using a battery with a BMS (Battery Management System) in my project and want to read its values via a PN/CAN link using the CAN bus. I've read the BMS manual and correctly defined the addresses. I'm using the CAN transparent mode, 'Receive message', and 'Receive proxy type' features. However, I'm not successful on the reading side. There are no error messages on the module, and everything seems fine. When I try to monitor raw data with a CAN Datalogger, I receive a "communication error" message shown in the visual. Where might I be making a mistake or missing steps?

Duris_I Diamond Expert Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 11/27/2025 Posts: 10970 Rating: (844)	Hello, really i recommend for first to do check on CAN bus with suficient CAN adapter connected to PC and some good CAN diag SW. You have now problem on PLC but low level of CAN is not clear to you now probably. It is expected to do first diag checks with PC as I stated, then if you have correct data all can be clear and better configured. Sry if I don't remember this problematic after some time, you need define some predefined questions depended to registers and data but all is described very well inside your CAN module documentation, also examples.
