I’m facing a recurring issue when trying to remove features from a program developed in TIA Portal v17, particularly when modifying the associated HMI project. Below are the steps I followed and where the error occurred:

First Attempt (Successful Initialization)

1. I created a program called "Motor Forward/Reverse" in a Function Block (FB). I added an alarm feature that cuts off motor power (L1, L2, L3) if the current exceeds 2A (using an NC contact).

2. Configured the PLC Tags.

3. Created an HMI screen with:

   • Controls for the motor (Forward/Reverse).

   • A display for the overcurrent alarm (triggered if the current exceeds 2A).

4. Compiled the project: no errors.

5. Saved the program.

6. Transferred the program to the S7-1200 PLC and the KTP400 Basic HMI : transfer was successful with no issues.

7. Tested the program: everything worked as expected.

Second Attempt (Modifications Causing Errors)

1. I decided to remove the overcurrent alarm functionality from the FB:

   • Deleted the two networks dedicated to the alarm.

   • Removed the associated PLC Tags.

2. Compiled the PLC program: no issues.

3. Modified the HMI project:

   • Deleted the graphical elements and objects related to the overcurrent alarm.

   • Compiled the HMI program: no errors.

4. Saved the modified program.

5. Transferred the FB program to the PLC: success.

6. Attempted to transfer the HMI program: errors occurred!

   • The errors referenced functions and objects I had already deleted.

To resolve this, I had to delete the HMI device entirely from the project tree in TIA Portal and recreate it from scratch, forcing me to redo the entire HMI interface. This process is time-consuming, and I would like to avoid this workaround in the future.

The only way to ensure that deleting elements from the HMI does not cause errors is to ensure that what was deleted was not being used anywhere else in the program as events, properties of other elements, etc.
