What is the difference between license Checkout and Transfer when using ALM for remote license use?

Also is this the best way to use the license for multiple VMS?

As the manual states here... Settings in the Automation License Manager > License keys ->

"If you select the "Upgrade" option, your computer automatically checks for existing but as yet unused upgrade license keys when the program starts.

If you select the "Check out" option, a license key transfer to a connected computer is logged as checked out. The checked out license keys can be used on the connected computer and then later transferred back to the computer that is acting as the server.".
