Configure connection via script

As there are hundreds of machines and the user connects only to one of them, I want to use just one configurable connection where I can change the parameters like ip and comm. type via script. Is that possible?

However, it does not allow you to change the connection type. Changing the connection type results in a different addressing method for PLC tags. Kind regards Stefan
