How to make a correctly HSYNC for a CPU 1517H - 3 PN

redans_redans115 Joined: 5/5/2025 Last visit: 9/1/2025 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi, I want to test the HSYNC synchronization between the Primary and Backup for a CPU 1517H - 3 PN (6ES7517-3HP00-0AB0), but I have 2 issues. First issue: I use 4 synchronization modules (6ES7 960-1CB00-0AA5) and 2 fiber optic cables (6ES7 960-1BB00-5AA5). On both PLCs, all LEDs from HSYNC ports X3 P1 and X4 P1 are continuously switch from orange to green and don't remains green. I connected the fiber directly: X3 P1 from the Primary to X3 P1 from the Backup and the same way for X4 P1. OBS: Both PLCs are in RUN-Redundant mode and the redundant system is working! Are they connected correctly or should it be: X3 P1 from the Primary to X4 P1 from the Backup? Second issue: Even if the redundant system is working, when I disconnect the power supply (24 V) from the Primary PLC, the Backup PLC successfully takes over as Primary. However, when I restore power to the first PLC, it doesn't take back the role as Primary, as it was initially and it remains with Backup role. Is this the correct behavior? Thanks!

Towome Platinum Expert Joined: 7/9/2015 Last visit: 8/29/2025 Posts: 4443 Rating: (641)	Hi, I think the correct fiber optic connection for the HSYNC modules (6ES7960-1CB00-0AA5) is: X3 P1 (Primary) ⟶ X3 P1 (Backup) X4 P1 (Primary) ⟶ X4 P1 (Backup) However, each pair must be connected in a crossed configuration: X3 P1 (Primary) ⟶ X3 P1 (Backup) X4 P1 (Primary) ⟶ X4 P1 (Backup) But you must also ensure that: - The fiber cables are not swapped (TX to RX and vice versa). - The fiber cables are clean and undamaged. - The HSYNC modules are properly seated and powered.
