Hello everyone,

I am trying to establish communication between a virtual S7-1512SP running in PLCSIM Advanced and an Ignition SCADA server for simulation purposes. The goal is to connect Ignition to the virtual PLC through the real network adapter so that Ignition can connect as an OPC UA client.

Setup details:

• PLCSIM Advanced version: 7
• TIA Portal version: 20
• Virtual PLC in Single-Adapter TCP/IP mode
• PLCSIM Virtual Ethernet Adapter IP: 10.36.58.127 / 255.255.255.0
• PLC IP: 10.36.58.126 / 255.255.255.0
• Ignition server on office network with DHCP enabled
• Real Ethernet adapter of the PC connected to the virtual PLC is set to Auto (DHCP)
• Real network adapter assigned to the virtual PLC in PLCSIM Advanced

Issue:
I can run Ignition on my local PC and connect to the virtual PLC via OPC UA on localhost without issues. However, the remote Ignition server in the office network cannot detect or connect to the virtual PLC running on my PC.

Question:
Is communication from PLCSIM Advanced to third-party OPC UA clients (such as Ignition) via a real network adapter supported? If so, are there any specific network, firewall, or PLCSIM Advanced settings I may have missed to allow external OPC UA access to the virtual PLC?

It should work to communicate with PLC Sim Advanced  over ethernet to external communicatin partners (now thats one of the main reasons for PLC Cim Advanced).

OPC UA Server should also work in this simulation but only without security.

I have also used PLC Sim Advanced already for communication with external systems so basically it should work.
