S7-313C2DP acting as Slave and Master

HattedOne Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	I have a Two node Profibus DP network, a Mitsubishi Master on Node 1 and the S7 313C-2DP as a slave on node 2. I have got data exchange going successfully but when I use a network analysis tool (ProfiTrace) the slave is seen as a Master NOT a slave. I have confirmed at the data exchange messages are occuring (see screenshot) and I can see Node 2 recieving the master token and scanning the network for other masters before returning the token to the first master. I have set the 313C as a DP Slave on its second interface (connected to the network). How do I turn this Master off? I have checked and there are no other devices on the network. The S7 313C-2DP is working as a DP-Slave answering telegrams send by the DP-Master. On the other side: Both are intelligent Stations. So it is possible to configure your S7 313C-2DP as an active station on the PROFIBUS. You could use other communication protocoles parallel to your PROFIBUS DP configuration. In this case the PLC must be able to access to the network by here own. Think within the hardwareconfiguration of the S7 313C-2DP it should be possible to set it as a passive DP-Slave. Doing this the station wouldn't get the token anymore. Best regards Sabine

If you want to get the CPU to be a passive node on the PROFIBUS you have to disable the option "Test, commissioning, routing" at the DP properties of the CPU in the folder operating Mode. fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/12/2026 Posts: 3054 Rating: (1062)	Just a minor correction to J_Bell's advise: Programming and testing (e.g. VAT and Block Status monitoring)are still possible even if "Test, commissioning, routing" is NOT ticked, it will however be asloooower access/update and youwill miss out on routing functionality (which you probably won't need/use, but if you do you must tick the box).
