Editing .ati symbol file

Martin L Posts: 25 Rating: (2)	Hi. I have configured a SimaticNET OPC server with software version 6.2.1 components (OPC server V7.0 and IE General V7.1). In the past doing this I would get a .sti file which I could later edit in the Symbol File Configurator. Now however I'm stuck with symbolic information in an .ati which I can't seem to edit. In the Configuration Console, when I'm in Manage Symbol Files the buttons Convert and Start... are both grayed out making me believe I might have a too old version of Symbol File Configurator although I installed all SimaticNET applications from Siemens Solution Partner Premium Studio 2009 package. How can I go about in either converting the .ati file to .sti or editing the .ati it self? Sincerely, Martin

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Martin, I wonder, why do you configure a Version 7.0 of SIMATIC NET if you just have a Version 6.2.1 installed? If you want to use the functionality you will not get around updating the SIMATIC NET Software to Version 7.0 at least , even so STEP 7 provides this function. Best regards J_Bell

The 6.2.1 figure I got from the "Configuration Info" tab in "Station Configuration Editor".
To my knowledge, the only option STEP 7 gives me is choosing what symbols to include. I need to be able to rearrange in the structures of my DB symbols.

Martin L Posts: 25 Rating: (2)	Dear J_Bell, Below is a screenshot from: SIMATIC Manager -> Help -> About -> Installed Software [Display] and: Station Configuration Editor -> Configuration Info The .ati file is generated once a .xdb file is imported in Station Configuration Editor.
