Remote access to Panel PC + Passthru S7 300

I work at machine a machine builder, here is the system: I have two separate machines with each a S7-315 with Profibus DP connection to a Panel PC (CP5611). Both machine are connected via MPI for some hanshake signals. Both panel PC are running our home made application with the siemens OPC server. These machine are currently at a remote location. We have provided 1 TS adaptor that is also connected on the MPI. So when using a dial-up we can access both machine PLC. We have two issue with this configuration: 1. We ave a hard time to get a permanent fax line hooked-up at the custumer side. 2. This does not give us remote access to the Panel PC for troubleshooting on the HMI app. What we would like is to installs an internet usb key (3G) or use the custumer internet connection. To either of the panel PC so we can have a remote access of it using VNC or PCanywhere and even VPN link. But also use the PC has a passthu to the S7-315 via the DP connection. Now, i have not found any sort of software gateway or passthru that would route my remote computer that has all the engeneering software (S7 etc.) to the PLC. The easy work aroud would be to install all the Engeneering software on the Panel PC, but that would require to pruchase a new licence. I would like to find a more permanent solution for future euquipment we set-up. thanks.

To create connection for Panel PC with using 3G or GPRS internet connection better will be router GSM: http://www.option.com/en/products/products/wireless-routers/globesurfer3/ Why it's better? Because USB modems like, We don't know why sometimes , be disconnected from GSM or from Windows (the same like using UPS Backup Powerfor Panel PC with communication via USB instead of RS232 - problems guarantee in the future!!). Operators can restart router all when it's necessary without PC restarts. Operators don't have permition go to Windows for restart modemconnection to GSM, andmore, more... . USB using for industry PC's is OK only for mouse, keyboard or printers, however for me only for mouse... 2. To connection for 2 PLC without PN or Ethernet module in HWConfig via one internet connection: - 1st -router from p. 1 has 2 LANs (1st for PC, 2nd for PLC connection) slot - OpenVPN, DMZ hosting or port forwarding (for nonVPN operation You need Global IP Adress (Which You see from internet, it isn't firewalled via operator GSM) from GSM internet provider - ask for it) - all options are available. - 2nd -use nonSiemensmodule NetLinkPro from Helmholz company: http://www.helmholz.de/prod.d,48_130,38623160300345656165646327627683.html?prod=84 If You have MPI connection between PLCs You need onlyone Helmholzmodule for 2 PLC - will be the same like teleservice. Costs - 400/500 euro for Netlink, 250 euro for router + cable + your hours for create system.

I tough before of adding an Profinet card (CP 343-1Lean) on either of my PLCs but this option would be costy, here in Canada, just this cards is about 1400EURO + accesories + time for installation. I dind know this helmholz device. It looks very intersting. and much cheaper then a Siemens card or an CPU upgrade to one with eNet port. Have you tried it before and is it realiable? In Step 7, how do we configure the PG-PC, has a regular Profinet? My post was more about a software solution that I could install in the local Panel PC. To route or passthru the connection of my remote computer to the profibus port (CP5611). Any suggestion? thanks!

OpenVPN (2 LAN cards on Panel PC - routing 2nd LAN via 1st, 1st connected to the internet, 2nd configured IP adress class like OpenVPN server configuration). 2. Global IP Adres from GSM internet provider + router GSM + Netlink IP adress configured the same class from DHCP router GSM + DMZ host for NetLink Pro IPadress. With NetLink Pro You will have drivers for instalation to list PG/PC Interfaces. You can use it for remote connection via internet, but isvery useful when You are on the plant and connection to the PLC using CP5512 isn't comfortable, You can connect it to the standardrouter WiFi and use it from other place/room, where are patience, clear and 21'C.... Ex. configuration from PG/PC for You on atachment. It can be used for ex. SCADA for data exchange. Sorry, I don't understand Your last question. Attachment NetLinkPro_ExConfig.JPG (248 Downloads)

My last question was to know if there is a software or driver that I could install on the Panel PC. To route a connection from the Ethernet Port to the Profibus DP (CP5611) port. In other words: If I keep the PLC like it is now... no ethernet, only a Profibus connection to the Panel PC... I would create a remote connection via internet to the Panel PC. and this "software" would route the connection to the local PC card (CP5611) to access the PLC via the Profibus network. thanks
