Control of Old DC Servo Motor with 6RA70

Navnag Platinum Member Joined: 11/21/2007 Last visit: 1/8/2026 Posts: 2327 Rating: (309)	Hello We are upgrading an existing line with DC Motors with New 6RA70 DC Drives in place of existing Analog Drives. However 2 Nos. existing motors are DC servo motors ( Permanent Magnet type ) as per the name plate.The existing drives connected to these motors seem to be normalAnalog DC drives, and not Servo Drives. Can I use 6RA70for controlling the DC Servo Motor. ( The Name Plate Data of the existing motor are attached ) as customer would not like to change the motors. denzilg_sa Bronze Member Joined: 7/5/2007 Last visit: 1/6/2026 Posts: 77 Rating: (5)	Hi Navnag, Yes you can run auto opt, Points to keep in mind, 1) To optimize current controller you need to lock the servo motor shaft, On spindle with field application the field would be at zero current as not to rotate.Make sure P82 = 0 This only sets up armature current and not field/ Servo motor will run away if shaft is not locked. 2) Speed controller optimization can then be run. Only these are needed. P51 =25 current control arm. 26 Speed control Regards, Denzilg
