TP277 Real Time Clock

henrywolf Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	I am using a TP277 (6-inch color touch) [on a S7-226 CPU]. The clock in the TP277 resets to a default date and time (25Feb09) after every power cycle. I have eliminated the 226 as the source of the default time by disconnecting the PPI cable between HMI and PLC. Q: Is the RTC in the HMI backed up by a battery? If so, and if a bad batery is the reason for the time memory loss, how does one replace the battery? Thanks for your help. +++Henry+++

It is not battery backed up You can synchronise date and time with CPU. See this link: how do you synchronize the system clock between a windows based panel and an S7-200 CPU with WinCC flexible? The reason to have the HMI be the time keeper was to keep the PLC program unchanged so that it would work with other HMI makes and models. I am familiar with area pointers and how to synch HMI and PLC and will shift the time-keeper function to the PLC. Again, thanks for your quick reply. +++Henry+++
