Difference between FDL connection and S7 connection

kanters Experienced Member Joined: 1/22/2010 Last visit: 11/18/2025 Posts: 26 Rating: (9)	We have a project with 6 PLC's(317/315(-F)). There is a S7 connection between almost every PLC. This connection is made over Profibus with a CP 342-5 card on every PLC. Connection speed is 1,5Mbps. We use the blocks BSEND and BRCV and the datalength is about 150bytes. The software receives every cycle(the EN_R input is after the first cycle "True"). The send side makes its send bit low and high after all done and error messages, and if there is no response after 4 seconds. The problem is that the send cycle is about 1 second. And 50% of the times i get a error(7, Partner SFB/FB is in the wrong state.The receive block was not called again after the last data transmission.) I saw that there is also a FDL connection possible. With this connection i can use functionblocks AG_SEND and AG_RECV. What is the best connection method for sending data between PLC's.
