Vinny Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Hello Siemens friends, I've just started working on CPU 414-2 (2XG03-0AB0) for the first time. I've downloaded the code into it and it works fine so far. But I've got a EXTF LED lit on it. Does anybody know what it means? Thanks.

Vinny Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Hi UMENCHO and Ayman, It was the backup battery actually which is nearly dead and needs replacement. So that is fine at the moment. I've encountered another little problem though. I was trying to send data between a S7-400 CPU (2XG03-0AB0) and S7-300 CPU (2AF02-0AB0) via MPI. I used the simple global data table in the NetPro for this. I successfully send data from S7-400 to S7-300 but I couldn't send data from S7-300 to S7-400. Has anybody come across this before? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Vinny Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Hi UMENCHO, Fixed it and the fix was rather strange, I think. I swapped the columns in GD table and it all started working correctly. Initially, I entered S7-400 into the first column and S7-300 into the second column, it complained and didn't let me transfer data from S7-300 to S7-400. But I was able to transfer data from S7-400 to S7-300. Then I swapped the columns in the GD table and now I have S7-300 in the first column and S7-400 in the second column and it all works fine.

But I went back into the project just to confirm this and I swapped them as it was initially (S7-400 in the first column) and it all started working correctly. I am not sure what went wrong the first time. But anyway it all works. Thanks.

But It's not necessary to swap the two CPUs in GD table. You can let them as is. Then go to the cell that contain the memory location you want to transfer and right click and select sender. By this sellection, the CPU that contain this address will send the data stored in to all other CPUs connected to GD. It's not necessary for sender CPU to be in the first column. Regards.
