Hello deva; A tool for the conversion of S5 to s7 has been installed on your computer along with Step 7; look for it in the Simatic group of programs. It will produce S7 source files that will compile to a S7 program when all is finished. The online help will be a good place to start understanding how it works. The conversion program will convert up to 85% of the Step 5 blocks, because many things in S5 is done differently in S7: communications are handled through SFC/SFBs instead of seperate COMxxx files; math blocks are different in S7, these instructions are already included in the S7 program files, so they have to be programmed directly in Step 7; these should be removed from the conversion process and programmed later in Step 7. Certain instructions in S5 do not convert at all in Step 7, as they are not supported: LIR/TIR, DO... Then you must really understand what the programmer wanted to do in the S5, and reprogram in Step 7 with the S7 tools. I understand this might be confusing at the start, so here is some additional information to help you start: S5-S7 conversion Manual: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1118413 S5-S7 conversion FAQ, with S5 math blocks and their S7 instruction equivalents: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/14529143 S5-S7 conversion threads that discuss problems that other members here have had with the conversion proces: https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?query=s5+s7+conversion&func=cslib.cssearch&content=adsearch%2Fadsearch.aspx%3Ftab%3D2&lang=en&siteid=csius&objaction=cssearch&searchinprim=_searchinprim_&nodeid=99&x=16&y=8&cssearchengine=NEW For more help on specific problems, once you have looked at the issues and prepared your conversion, do not hesitate to come back to the forum. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
